20 Questions to Ask Your Kids

I stumbled across some posts on Pinterest of lists of questions to ask your spouse, children, friends, etc. I thought well this might be fun and clicked on one. I called the kids in the room and began to ask them random questions. Everyone was laughing and they couldn’t wait for me to ask them the next question. I quickly realized that there are things I really didn’t know about my kids. Things like their greatest fear to even their favorite book. So many things you just assume you know.

This instantly became one of my favorite activities to do with the kids. They love to answer the questions, I love learning new things about them, and we enjoy the conversations that come from them. It is also such a great way to sneak in some deeper questions to get to know what goes on in that little head of theirs.

There are definitely some questions that are fun to do with the whole family, but I strongly encourage you to ask these questions of each child individually so they share their true answer not their siblings.

Here are 20 of our family’s favorite questions:

  1. Who is your hero?
  2. What makes you happy when you’re sad?
  3. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
  4. What is your favorite holiday?
  5. What is your happiest memory?
  6. What is your favorite food?
  7. If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be?
  8. What is your favorite song?
  9. What do you want to be when you grow up?
  10. What is your favorite book?
  11. Is there anything you are afraid of?
  12. What is your favorite color?
  13. What is something you are thankful for?
  14. What is your favorite ice cream?
  15. What would your dream home look like?
  16. What is your favorite movie?
  17. What do you like best about yourself?
  18. What is your favorite memory of us?
  19. What do you want to get better at?
  20. If you could choose another name for yourself, what would you choose?

I hope your kids love this little activity as much as ours do and that you learn something new about your child(ren).
