I am a CommonGround Volunteer

So by now if you know anything about me, I like to try to find “common ground” with people. My efforts are to support farmers that take care of the land and animals regardless of what label their product falls under or the size of their operation. I also believe in the fact that we do in fact have the safest most affordable food supply there is. Now I am not talking about junk food, I am talking about the product that leaves the almost 50,000 farms here in the United States. I believe that the products are amazing.

So with that said, I like to join up with like-minded people. People that may not do things the way I do, people that we may not agree on everything but the one thing that we can agree on is that each farm should have a choice on how they operate their farm as long as the animals and land are well taken care of. So I joined CommonGround. Check out my profile here.

Since I joined towards the beginning of the year, I haven’t had a chance to really be involved in the organization. Why? I am located in Washington and I am the first volunteer all the way over in this corner of the world. I have however been able to participate in conversations with consumers on the CommonGround Facebook page.

Last month, they reached out to me with the first ever opportunity to do something other than interacting on Facebook. Now, the thing I am finding out about CommonGround is they are doing much more than I thought they were. I was asked to join three other volunteers in attending a satellite media tour in New York City.

The satellite media tour will include interviews with various new stations across the United States focusing on farming and why all farmers should be sharing our stories. Two things I am so very passionate about. I love to talk about our farm and I love to encourage others to share their stories as well!

So last night, I booked my flight to NYC. In two weeks I will be traveling to one of the places I have always wanted to visit with three other amazing women to share our stories!

I get to talk about COWS on national television! It’s like a dream come true!
