Where is my milk from?

Have you ever wondered where the milk/dairy products you purchase from the store come from? To be honest, I really haven’t given it much thought seems how I purchase most of my dairy products from my own cooperative. I am sure those that do not own/operate a dairy farm would like to know where the products they are giving to their families come from.

There is no way to pin point the exact location of your milk unless you are purchasing milk directly from a farm that bottles their own milk or the package includes the farm information on it. There is however a way to tell at least what general area you milk or dairy products are from.

It is a handy website called “Where is my milk from?”. If you click here, you will be taken directly to the site!

On your dairy products you will find a four digit code.

For example, the code on this Darigold buttermilk is 53-35. So take that number, enter it & click find.

You will find that code 53-35 is from Darigold, Inc. The plant location is Spokane, Washington.

I am not going to lie, this is a fun tool. I found that my yogurt was from the East Coast! Go ahead, open up your fridge & check it out for yourself! Make sure to send them a “LIKE” on Facebook as well!
