2014 Year End Review: Advocacy

I cannot believe that 2014 is almost over. Even more so, I cannot believe how much I have learned this year about the dairy industry, advocacy and myself. Here is a look back of highlights as well as most popular blog post for each month. I can only imagine what 2015 might look like, looking forward to a new year.

January-

Attended the 2014 Northwest Regional Conference in Portland, Oregon.

February-

Attended our first YC (young cooperative) conference in California which was also our first trip to the World AG Expo. We became delegates (representatives) for the program.

Attended the Pacific Northwest Women in AG Conference.

Attended my first ever “soil class”. Anything to learn how to become a better steward of the land.

Started to contribute on a regular basis to my column in our local paper.

Where did September even go? Did next to nothing on my blog as we were hammering out content for “Ask the Farmers“. My blog was put on the back burner.

Attended the National Dairy Industry Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas.

Attended the Washington Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in Yakima, WA. I serve as a board member as well as hold the Professional Relations chair position.

Participated in my first “official” speaking engagement on advocacy. Looking forward to speaking at the Washington Dairy Women PR Conference in January.

Attended our Young Cooperate annual meeting in Spokane, Washington. Brandon & I were elected president-elect couple for our cooperative. Excited to represent our cooperative and fellow dairy farmers.

Krista didn't grow up on a farm but fell in love with a dairy farmer and now works alongside her husband on their family dairy farm, raising five children. Despite her non-farm upbringing, she embraces farm life, enjoys gardening, and remodeling their farmhouse. She also runs a successful women's boutique, manages social media for local businesses, and serves on the board of a non-profit creamery, showcasing her dedication to entrepreneurship and community service.
